    We offer a broad range of consulting services including fitness for service, failure analysis and material testing, stress analysis, inline inspection qualification, and training workshops.

    Position Purpose

    • Oversees and performs laboratory testing including saw cutting, handling of pipe and other materials, sectioning, hardness/micro-hardness testing, tensile testing, Charpy testing and other laboratory sample preparation and testing. Will maintain laboratory equipment, neatness and cleanliness, and supplies. Will work effectively with project engineers and laboratory technicians to deliver quality test results.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for pipe and materials handling upon receipt from the client
    • Maintains equipment used in the laboratory and responsible for the day-to-day operation of the lab facility including, but not limited to, scheduling, equipment maintenance, managing supplies, and scheduling equipment calibration.
    • Performs various tests including hardness testing, tensile testing, Charpy testing and weld testing.
    • Participates in laboratory inspections providing operation of equipment during inspection.
    • Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment.
    • Maintains current test procedures and assists with the preparation of new procedures.
    • Observes and consults with project managers to ensure specified techniques are used.
    • Perform work safely (wearing appropriate PPE and following safety procedures).
    • Assist the machinist with basic machining of test samples when time permits.
    • Represent company at industry conferences and committees as and when required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to complete forklift training and certification within 3 weeks of being hired.

    Education and Work Experience

    • High school diploma required.
    • Associate’s Degree in any discipline or Laboratory Technician based vocational schooling Certificate / Degree preferred.
    • 6 – 12 years’ work experience in a similar test laboratory environment required.
    • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Certificates and Licenses Required

    • Ability to achieve ASNT Level I and II certification in various NDE methods within 1 year of being hired.

    Working Conditions

    • The physical environment requires the employee to work inside an office environment, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
    • Occasional visits to field sites will require employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in temperature extremes and inclement weather.
    • Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and working environments.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
    • Must be physically located in Columbus, OH.
