Position Purpose

  • The main function of the IT Systems Administrator role is to support the North America Business Unit by assisting in designing, monitoring, and implementing information systems in compliance with corporate policies and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • With minimal supervision, works independently to complete essential job functions ensuring IT best practices/guidelines are communicated and our Standard Operating Environment (SOE) practices are implemented and followed
  • Maintain and improve the SOE best practices/guidelines
  • Keeping all services, servers & applications operational
  • Answer 2nd line user questions through IT ticketing system (TOPdesk) and via phone on all company supported IT applications
  • Maintain and test backups as well as disaster recovery plans
  • Anticipate IT problems and implement preventive measures
  • Implement and monitor Applus+ Divisional IT policies
  • Participate-in & lead global IT projects
  • Collecting and analyzing wishes for new software/hardware and advising on technical specifications
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding the hardware and software
  • Assisting the local IT Support (1st line) with hardware/software installations and support
  • Creating and maintaining instructions and manuals for our local IT Support (1st line) and users.
  • Maintains quality process control by following organization standards and policies
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Administration, including Windows 2003/2008/2012 Active Directory environment supporting 4000+ users
  • Experience with Internet Information Server, Web, FTP, SMTP, security and monitoring products
  • Able to change processes quickly and effectively in a fast-paced and growing environment
  • Experience in a large enterprise environment
  • Ability to quickly adapt the IT environment with company’s organic growth and through acquisitions
  • Must have developed excellent customer service skills
  • Apply ITIL within the department and monitor SLA’s
  • Working knowledge of code writing and scripting for the purposes of systems management
  • Must be a good team player and work well with others
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English

Education and Work Experience

  • Management Information Systems or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of systems administration experience
  • Microsoft MSCA Certified or willing to get certified
  • Cisco CCNA or willing to get certified
  • ITIL Knowledge or willing to get certified in ITIL Foundation
  • Knowledge of at least 7 of the following technologies/methodologies:
    • Backup Assist
    • Cisco Call Manager (CUCM) & Cisco Unity
    • Microsoft Exchange
    • Microsoft SharePoint
    • Microsoft Lync & Skype for Business
    • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
    • Microsoft System Center Operation Manager (SCOM)
    • Solarwinds Orion (NCM, NPM, & SAM)
    • TOPdesk
    • Mobile Device Management (InTune)
    • PeterConnect
    • PowerShell
    • VMware vSphere
    • Veeam Backup & Replication
    • ITIL
    • AGILE
    • Git / SVN

Working Conditions

  • Must be physically located in Houston, Texas
  • Ability to travel when required, up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours when scheduled to perform maintenance duties on production systems
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work inside an office environment, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate
  • Periodic work in a loud environment when servicing equipment in Network or Datacenter facilities
