Position Purpose

  • The main function of the Field Engineer 3- Facilities is to provide engineering and inspection support for the Facilities Group. Will be responsible for collecting and processing laser data for analytic review. Will serve as a team lead on project and assist in training other personnel in applicable laser technologies both infield and in a classroom environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate to customer the advanced understanding of applicable laser equipment, data collection, post processing, analysis, modeling, and other methods we employ etc.
  • Perform data collection using 3D and other applicable laser methods and equipment, for analysis, mapping, modeling, report generation, etc.
  • Ensure that the relationships the company has with existing and potential new accounts are developed and maintained by anticipating the customer’s needs, resolving concerns and complaints.
  • Generate time sensitive reports for customers, while meeting quality and customer requirements.
  • Train staff in applicable techniques and methods.
  • Observes test procedures and product compliance to internal and industry specifications.
  • Observe and monitor Technician to ensure proper training.
  • Assist with the continuous development, operation and maintenance of the equipment used.
  • Review incoming data for accuracy, quality and completeness.
  • Responsible for compiling mapping projects and delivering finished product to users.
  • Write specific workflow and procedures to applicable assignment.
  • Assist with the development of proposals when needed.
  • Cleanup work areas and remove debris after activities are complete.
  • Organize materials in order to prepare for use.
  • Ensure that all Company equipment is maintained and secured as required by Company Operational Procedures.
  • Follow and enforce the Company required safe work practices and procedures at all times.
  • Create Excel spreadsheets for project data entry, including testing results.
  • Track administrative management of projects, such as purchase orders and billing.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, and promote a positive customer service attitude internally and externally
  • Enforce and abide the requirements of safe operation and personal safety using required Personal Protective Equipment and Safe Practices per company policy.
  • Perform other job related tasks as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train coworkers assigned to you through on the job training in safe work practices, technical skills and compliance with company policy.
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and legal work environment for all staff ensuring all company policies are being followed.
  • Maintain staff job results by coaching, counseling, certifying, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results in partnership with human resources.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Practical application of Mechanical/Materials Engineering and or Engineering Science and Technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Detail oriented with a dedication to the quality control and quality assurance process; ability to understand and read complex design and fabrication plans and specifications.
  • Ability to multi-task and properly execute multiple simultaneous assignments without sacrificing efficiency or quality of the work.
  • Ability to document, and track discrepancies using appropriate software.
  • Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse groups of people.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be capable of developing written work instructions from approved general procedures.
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Basic knowledge of materials and mechanical design.
  • Learn and abide by contract policies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve less complex technical problems quickly and independently.
  • Complete all required training, including tests, within company guidelines
  • Be proficient with standard computer software (such as MS Word and Excel) and be able to write detailed inspection and shutdown reports while maintaining an organized system of files.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Materials Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college required.
  • 2+ years Mechanical/Materials engineering or related field experience, including projects highly desired
  • Ability to analyze and resolve less complex technical problems quickly and independently.
  • 2+ years’ experience in various laser scanning techniques

Certificates and Licenses Required

  • ANDT Level III Certification or additional 2+ years documented experience: 3D Laser Scanning
  • ANDE Certification in : Laser Profilometry
  • Employee must be able to pass an annual eye examination per the requirements
  • Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in temperature extremes and inclement weather. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and working environment
  • May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces
  • The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud when working on project site.
  • Overtime required during the week and weekend with work volume
  • Ability to travel when required, nationally, up to 50% of the time.
